Common plecos really only eat algae when they are young. After that, they are pretty omnivorous and often prefer flakes and stuff, so even if he was not directly fed algae wafers, he was probably still ok eating the stuff fed to the other fish.
I do agree with black molly though that he looks a bit skinny. I am sure he will do better in a bigger tank.

IMO/E guppies are iffy with any shrimp other than ghost shrimp. Some guppies (like the ones I used to have) will pick at the shrimp to death. Mine even killed a mystery snail! But I know some people do it so it must work for someone
