Hello, I know it's important to have oxygen added in the tank, but my filter creates a ton of bubbles when it hits the water, do I really need a bubbler also?ImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1410393577.590506.jpg

My tank is a 30 gallon, the filter is an aquaclear 70.

DISCLAIMER: I'm very new! Anyway, from what I have read, You don't need a bubbler if you have the top surface area to support the tank. Most of the O2 entering the water is from the air-to-water contact at the surface. I have a 35gl TALL tank which means I have a small surface contact. Only 30 x 12 for 35gl H2O. I have a defuser to help. I have no idea how to check if a tank needs a bubbler based on dimensions but, I bet if your tank is taller than it is wide, you probably need something. I hope this helped. Experts please tell me if I'm wrong.

No, you do not need an airstone. An HOB provides plenty of O2 exchange.
