I just boil it in a pot large enough. You could immerse in a hot bathtub, or run through a dishwasher on high temp setting ( minus detergent!)

When boiling or in a tub, you probably need to change the water a couple of times to dump the leached tannins.

I've used a large lobster pot to boil to just letting it soak in bucket filled with hot water. I found IME that boiling it was faster and the wait time was cut in half from the soak method but them again I'm very impatient sometimes. I have soaked DW before, you just have to keep changing the water and if it's floating you have to obviously weigh it down.

Good luck

A simple boil and soak may not stop the leeching. My small piece of driftwood still discolors my water after a month. If you are not in a hurry, try soaking it in the toilet tank (not bowl!) for a while. Out of sight and totally submersed with regular water changes.
