dwarf gourami sex ratio

I have a 55 gallon tank with some room, I've been wanting to add some dwarf gouramis for a long time now (I have swordtails/platys, bleeding heart tetras, bushynose pleco, 4 zebras, and 5 juli cories) ... but I keep getting confused on the sex ratio because I can't seem to get a direct answer or a consistent one

I was originally told two females for every one male, then like four females for one male... and then I could do a bunch of males if I had no females... and then aaah. Anyone that can help me out and tell me in black and white?

I usually go with 2-3 females to one male. If you don't want babies I'd go with ALL females, because males sometimes tend to be more agressive with eachother, IMO.

What I have been told about dwarf gouramis is that the male's top fin is pointed and the females is more rounded. Also the female with not have as much color most of the time. I think that one male and one female dwarf gourami would be ok, IMO.

HTH!

A big problem usually is that you can't even find female dwarf gouramis. They don't sell well due to their lacking in color.
You might be able to get 2 males live ok together, since the tank is big enough for seperate territories. If you can find females, get at least 2 per male. A male and female might be ok too, as long as there is only the one male.

I have 2 males in my 55. They seem to be doing fine, calm most of the time then once in a while they "play" and go back and forth with one another.
