ebay tank- what do you think (eep! only 3 hours left)

Okay, I want to get my boyfriend a larger tank (see the "donating plasma" thread)

I wanted a 55gal.. but I found this 40gal in my area (which is still a 10gal upgrade)-

http://cgi.ebay.com/40-Gallon-Fish-A...QQcmdZViewItem

The only thing I don't "like" is the stand color- it doesn't match the furniture I have in the bedroom.. other than that.. what do you think?
I don't want to buy on an impulse, but I don't want to miss a good deal... but then again.. I don't want to find a better deal and wonder why I got this one

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, what do you think?

The only comment I have about this tank is that it is like my 37g, which means very tall and narrow, and you basically have to stock it like it was a 29g because of the small footprint and the relatively small horizontal territory available. If you have a couple of angels in mind plus some schooling fish then it would be perfect, but you won't be able to stock it like you would think, considering the gallons.

He has one large angel, one full grown blue gourami and one full grown kissing gourami

Not sure what else he would want to put in there... should I hold off for a 55gal?
Now that im thinking about it... a 55gal would be a better upgrade (20+[acronym:5f310d9e0e="Gallon"]gal[/acronym:5f310d9e0e]) than just 10gal

It really depends on whether there are people watching this auction - it could go up a couple of hundred in the last 5 minutes, lol. If you like it, and it matches your kitchen, I'd place a maximum bid that is not too much higher than what it is going for now, and see what happens. If you have to pay a whole lot more than that it might not be such a steal.

I agree, though, that filter is worth $80-90 by itself, if it is not too old. I have an XP3 on my 55 and it might be a tad much for that 40g, considering the current is going to be hitting the opposite glass a short distance away. Just an observation.

I'd say it easily worth it even if you don't like the tank much you could still do somthing with it and trasfer the filter over to your 55(thats 99 right there) and get a smaller filter for the 40.
