Eclipse 37 gallon aquarium
I am sure this is not the first question of this type, but could not find others of this nature on the website. I am considering an Eclipse 37 gallon tank and system and I am wondering about two things: 1) the noise level of the pump, and 2) the quality of the filtration and lighting. I have read several mixed reviews on other websites, but I am leaning towards purchasing this system and before I tank the plunge, just want to be sure I am making the best possible purchase.

I have a 29 [acronym:dc8ac0c18a="Gallon"]gal[/acronym:dc8ac0c18a] Eclipse. When you say the noise of the pump, do you mean the filter? The filter sound is non-existant. You can't hear it. The quality of filtration is debatable because the water doesn't flow through the cartridge, it runs over it. It's not the most efficient filtration, but it's not bad either. The lights are ok. They are pretty standard for a 29 [acronym:dc8ac0c18a="Gallon"]gal[/acronym:dc8ac0c18a] tank. If you are going to want to up the wattage for live plants, you'll have to take the Eclipse hood off and replace it with something else. But if you don't plan on planting the tank, it is adequate. Overall I am satisfied with our Eclipse.

the one thing about Eclipse systems though is if you get rid of the hood you are throwing out about 80% of the total price, the acrylic container itself is much cheaper then the Eclipse hood, obviously though because the hood has the filtration system and lights, but i had a little 3 gallon Eclipse and i could never hear the filter
are there specific bulbs that you can replace for the Eclipse hood? like different wattage and brightness?

The larger Eclipse tanks aren't the acrylic or plastic, they are glass (from what I have seen). So yes, if you decide to replace the lights, you are also tossing the filter. You can increase brightness, but not really the wattage in the hood. Unless of course you put in new ballasts, but that isn't worth it. It would be easier to just buy a standard hood, light strip, and filter.
