Eheim + Fluval media

Wanted to reach out and see if anyone had added the fluvial carbon or nitrate removing media (bags) to their eheim pro's? I have a 2075 and I removed some of the coco puff looking glass balls and replaced with the fluvial media to get rid of my nitrate issue as it is 40ppm.

I still have the glass balls soaking in aquarium water, but I wanted to see if anyone thought this was a issue.
