feeding otto's

What do otto's eat and how often? I bought some algae waffers and when I put it in the tank all my other fish went after it and as far as I could see he never got any? I just got him last Sunday and I had alot of brown algae that he seemed to take care of pretty quick but I'm worried that he is not getting much to eat. What can I do to keep the other's from taking his meal? I fed them and dropped in the waffer and after the others ate they were like HOGS and went after the waffer and pretty stayed on it until they about devoured it. Any suggestions of what to do?

The best thing to do is to put the wafer in after lights out, when the other fish are out of feeding mode and the otos can get to it. Otherwise there is not a whole lot to do. Try some strips of zuchinni also, as the other fish will not bother with it.

Hi Sissy58, frozen/fresh peas (peeled, easier when frozen), blanched lettuce/spinach, zuchinni, algae wafers and such are great supplemental foods for Otocinclus and as TankGirl already said feed'em after the lights go out...... and not while you have room lights on becuase your other fish are still very active in the twilight provided.
