why won't the BB code work! :(

Lovely pics, and lovely fish. Only thing I'm thinking is...I thought only the males made bubble nests. Am I wrong?

thanks for the complemnts ^___^
and yep females make bubble nests too too, just not as often as males, and not usually as big.

yep, those fish sure are nice. My female recently disappeared. She always made a babble nest. I used to have a lucistic(i wish i could spell) female. She died a few months back from old age. I really like the fames, they are just as nice as males IMO

I love your girls. They are adorable and they are such a fun fish to watch. To me though, they are very dull in colour, a lot of colourless scales. I try my hardest to get people to understand how colourful they can be, but most I find to show people are dull. I'm very confused as to why so many females have colourless scales. Maybe its because they are multicoloured veiltails. My girls are solid coloured and I wish I could get pics just to show people that they can be more vibrant.

These pages have pics of bettas similar to mine. There are very few colourless scales.

Would it be ok to house 2-3 more female bettas in a 10g tank with one male betta? The tank is heavily planted. My LFS doesnt have any females though. :(

I'm impressed.

All the female bettas I've seen are kinda ugly. They all have very long dangly fins directly under their gills, and the other fins are very short.

Absolutely not.

They *might* have an off chance of tolerating each other for a little while. However, should the male mate with one of them, he will become extremely aggressive after the mating, and chase away (and possibly kill) any and all of the other females in the tank. Best case scenario would be all your girls living through the experience, but beaten, bruised, and fins shredded. Worst case...well, doesn't take a lot of imagination to figure out the worst case.

Multiple females (never two, but 3+) can *usually* be kept together. But males & females need to be kept separately, one female introduced for the purpose of mating (if desired), then the female pulled out as soon as mating is complete.

If the tank was a bigger one and heavily planted, it might have a chance of working. But IMO, 10g is just too small to try it (even heavily planted).

Beautiful girls ! I love female bettas, I wish I could find some, I'd love to do one of my 20s as a female betta tank.

It takes a whole lot of looking to find any decent ones. There's a shop near me that carries a lot of females. Two, 20L filled with them. My dad just bought a yellow one to hopefully breed with his yellow male from there. One of the nicer females I've seen.

I just love my "Betta Girls"! They are some of the more personable fish I've owned. They are very gentle and have never caused a problem in any of my tank, even when housed with much smaller fish. They are very curious and are fearless. These are some of the only fish I've had that allow you to pet them. They rub against my fingers almost like a cat that rubs against your leg.
