I have a Eheim classic 2215 on my 75 gal Planted... not a bad filter, but i am looking for a way to polish the water (short of an expensive diatom filter) and also to filter out some of the crap between pwc, i seams to build up faster then i can suck it up

They do have water polishing filter inserts. Rena calls them micro-filtration pads. Even if eheim didn't make them, you can cut it to fit and it would probably work. You place them on the very top of the filter media.

i have heard of people running a HOB filter in conjuction with a canister to help mechanical filter the water, but if you are running CO2, IMO a HOB is not an option.
