Fish Compatibility

The question I have is can you put a common gold fish in with platties?
The owner of a pet store said I could but I wanted to double check before I did this. It's a small fish about an inch long.

I personally wont do it. It is possible, but I just wouldnt recommend it. The both have different requirements. Besides, common goldfish are known to be 'feeder' fish (Feeder fish are usually crammed into a small tank making it easy for disease to appear).
