You can make it has soft as you want to a point (a few degrees GH), but you should also have some KH as well. Also, Equilibrium and plant fertilizers do different things, so you'll still need to use both of them. Equilibrium is mostly just restoring in Ca, Mg, and other elements in the water that RO/DI water doesn't have.
