When doing partial water changes to control ammonia spike during fish-in cycle, do I put in the amount of Prime for only water being added or for the full tank capacity?

And do I change at .25 or wait for it to get to .5 level for ammonia?

10 gallon with 2 Cory cats. Parameters last night .25 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 0 nitrate, ph 7.2. Did 40% water change. This morning ammonia .25 again did another 40% water change.

Because prime neutralizes ammonia, I would dose for the whole volume of water in your tank until your cycle is complete. Keep up with the daily water changes.
