Well, I finally set up my 26 gal that I bought from this site. I cycled using filter media from my Oscar's tank (nasty stuff) and am currently housing 2 Juli cory cats and a female Betta. I was thinking about getting a couple more cories to add up to 4 or possibly 5 and then also some yo-yo loaches...I was thinking 3. I'm stumped as far as what to put in the middle. I was thinking about some penguin tetras...any suggestions? I want schooling fish.

Yes she is. I don't want to have to buy another 2.5 gal to put her in and the other 2 male bettas are in the 2 2.5 gal tanks I have. What about Gouramis? I was thinking a dwarf one in there would be pretty.

Have tought of getting some schooling fish like neons or cardnals? I personally like my pristellas or x-ray tetras.

From what I understand, gouramis and bettas do not get alone together. Due to the fact they both like the top levels and they are *similar* in appearance, it could cause massive problems.
I put two female bettas in my peaceful 50 gal community and someone is picking on them--aside from each other. Divided tank, here I come!

Off topic: are you sure they are Corys Juli? Most LFS sell "Corydoras Julii" eventhough in reality they are selling "Corydoras Trillineatus". The Juli is pretty rare and usually more expensive. The Trillineatus is usually around $3 a piece.

But needless to say, Corydoras rock. I, personally, would add to 5 Corydoras if I were you. They like being in groups and your tank can handle it.

I think they were...that's what the picture showed...I paid 3.49 a piece for them but they usually sell them for 3.99...he pretty much always cuts me a deal. I'll try and find a pic of what they look like they are so cute chasing each other around the tank. They're about 1" long right now.

Ok the information that I came accross indicated that the julii cory and that other one you're talking about are the same thing??? I don't know. Oh well...they're still cute little babies.

Not the same thing

The Corydoras Julii and the Corydoras Trilineatus are not the same. They are commonly mistaken. For example, Petco in Denver sells Corydoras Julii eventhough in reality they are Trillineatus.

Actually, I tried to find some good images of both using Google, but a lot of images of the Julii are actually of the Trilineatus.

Here are some images of the Trilineatus:

These are of the Julii. The easiest way to distinguish both is by looking at the patterns on the head. The Trilineatus has more curved/hooked black spots.

This site speaks about the common mix up:

Anyways, both of them are awesome, but I prefer the Trilineatus a bit more. :p

Enjoy your Corys. :)
