Just got a new fluval c4 and am wondering what everyone who doesn't want charcoal uses in that compartment? Right now i have the reminants of my old filter pad but in a couple of weeks i will want to replace it with something more permanent and am curious what everyone does with this compartment.

I have the cannister filters and Aquaclear filters. I don't use carbon either. I use either extra sponges or the ammonia reducer bags.

Yes they do. Amazon and type in Fluval C4 and see what comes up. Otherwise if they don't make sponges for that model you can go to a craft store and buy polyester fiber fill. Walmart has it in sewing section.

I use biomax in the extra compartment in 2 separate biobags. So if I need to change it out I can do 1/2 at a time. Also I use a microfilter cut to fit on the other side of my sponge filter.
