Fluval stopped working again help??

Right I made a thread a while back about my fluval 405, that it stopped working but I done something (no idea what) and then it started to work but now it's stopped again and iv been trying since 7pm and now it's almost 11pm.
So you can see I'm getting ready to give up....
What happens is I open it up the impeller cover is I clipped I put it back on, put the fluval back together I pump it to get the air out (it's now full of water so are the tubes. I turn it on and it works anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 mins then stops.

I have no fish in there so I'm not in a rush but the media is from an old tank and I don't want to lose it.

Any ideas? The fluval is 5 years old I think.
Would it be best just to throw it away and buy a new filter?

I don't know if this would help you but when my fluval 405 stops working I shake it and hit it and it works fine

No that didn't work.
I think all the seeded media is dead because I think it's been of since Sunday 2pm
I'm going back to the shop where I bought it and I'll ask them for help, hopefully I get a new one but I probably won't
