Forktail rainbowfish only males..
I was wondering if it is OK to keep only males of this species in an aquarium?
Forktail rainbowfish (Pseudomugil furcatus). This is because the males are much prettier, and I have no interest in breeding them. I have read that the males can be aggressive towards the females if there aren't enough of them, but I'm not sure if the males are aggressive towards each other. I'm thinking they probably aren't, especially in the absence of females to fight over. Would appreciate any assistance ^_^ J. ![]()

While I don't know about this species in particular, here is some general information about keeping Rainbowfish. You could keep all males, but they won't tend to show as good of colors without a female to show off for. When keeping a mix of males and females, unless you make special arrangements for the fry, they'll probably get eaten by the parents. In general Rainbowfish males don't have aggression issues, at least no where nearly as badly as other species.

Thanks for your help, i think they are a kind of blue-eye rather than an actual rainbowfish but..
