Freshwater lighting question

How does 50/50 bulbs look in fw tanks?
i have acrylic tank, black background, white sand.
I want the the bright bluish look.

They look fine on a [acronym:c8e20dd6e1="Freshwater"]FW[/acronym:c8e20dd6e1] tank, but they and actinics tend to encourage algae growth a lot more than other bulbs [acronym:c8e20dd6e1="In My Experience"]IME[/acronym:c8e20dd6e1].

But I do like that blue look.

Madasafish makes a good point on the algae.
I prefer the 6500k for freshwater planted tanks.
If it is not planted the 50/50 will do fine.

I've heard storries of people who put 50/50 on their planted tanks and have the plants do just as good, to.
