friend for betta?

I recently upgraded my betta's home from a 1gal to a 5gal. Had the fish now for about 1 year and I'm not sure if its male or female. I think female but to sure. Anyways, the tank seems pretty empty with just the betta swimming around in it. Are there any fish that could join the betta in there. Thinking of like 3 tetras or something small.

small tetras may be killed off by the betta. I think a kuhli loach would work in that setup.

Good, I really like those fish so I'll prob add 3 of them. I would like a bigger school but the filter that is in the 5 gal isn't all that great, but hey I get tank, light, filter, and heater for $30 cdn so not a bad deal. Thanks again
