Fry trapped

Hi,
I have the superfish home 25 and it has a small filter area build in. Today I did my water change and cleaned the filter area. When I took the filter out I saw like 5 fry trapped in there. I don't think they can go out if the filter is in there, so they will died. But today I scared them out while the filter was out of the tank. So my question is: How can I prevent fry getting stuck in there?

What I do is grab a soft mesh net(aquarium net to catch fish with), put the fry in there and put it on the rim of your tank so that it has water in it, but the fry can't swim out... I leave mine for 1-2 weeks and then they are big enough to not get eaten by bigger fish, or get sucked up in the filter... Good Luck

Well the problem is that they get sucked up in the filter area. I do have a spare tank to put them in, i just cant catch them easily

You can buy sponge prefilters to put over the intake. Very effective.
