Fungus on snail?

Have a mystery snail who has had a few light white spots on him in the past, a couple months ago, which went away. Now he has a bigger cottony looking spot.

A friend gave me some fungus treatment (Tetra Fungus Guard), but am nervous to use it before checking with others.

Of course snail is my favorite. So really hoping he'll be ok

28 gal tank, 5 skirt tetras, 1 Molly, 1 guppy and 1 small pleco.

Have you recently added anyone that could have brought the fungus with it? What is your water change routine? How much, How often?

Last new fish was early September.

Water changes- about 1/4 to 1/2 weekly.

Have you tried taking him out of the tank and washing him off? It couldn't hurt and if it removes the junk then it's better than using medicine.
