Hello,

I am planing on getting a pair of german blue rams. Do they need salt in the aquarium water?

Thanks,

Rhodri Thomas

Yep, they require excellent water parameters and need higher temps but other than that there like any other fish. I have 4; two pairs.

Ok. So what would you recoment. I have a 65 liter tank. How may german blue rams and how many male/female?

65liters is roughly 17.7g
So no more than two. 1M/1f ratio.

Ok. So if i leve the tank running for 1-2 weeks it will be fine. And i do not need to add other things do i?

Make sure you have enough cover. The more places there is to hide the more they will be out. Is your tank cycled? Rams would do best in an established tank. It's hard finding good stock with rams.

Is the tank cycled? Save yourself the money and stress.. start with something a bit less demanding, gbrs are very sensitive fish and require a very stable environment. We usually recommend 5+ month old tanks.

Having the tank running with fish for up to 5months.

Meaning the tank has been cycled and running for 5 or more months

Don't they also prefer a relatively low pH?

Not gbr they are so far removed from the wild blue ram that the water hardness really doesn't matter anymore, it just needs to be extremely clean.
