Sounds like a blue longarm prawn, often included in shipments of ghost shrimp, they are clear when they are young, but with the arm they will get to something like 28" and are extremely predatory (pretty sure that's the name of them, Genus macrobrachium)..

Sounds like a nifty critter if you can swing a species tank for him. Train him to accept bits of fish on a stick instead of giving him live food.
