Gold Gourami Gets Too Big for Boots !! - Aquarium Advice

The little swine - just of late, my gold gourami seems to have thought himself as a bit of a hardman and been treating the tank like his own !
I thought this was great originally, as he wasn't disturbing any others and all seemed well.

Upon feeding tonight though, for some weird & unkown reason, he has been almost bullying his counterpart, the pearl gourami (which by the way has just started to eat).

It literally chases him to the other side of the tank, usually forcing him in a corner up by the filter. Worrying seeing as they should be best mates really and he hasn't done it before.

Fish !!!

We had a gold gourami in a 90 gal fresh setup that was the bully and would chase other fish of all types around even in the large tank like the 90.

Not sure why your saying they should be best of buds. Some fish are just agressive with fish of their own species.

Our gold gourami was about 3-4" in lengh.

It could have been that earlier on the gold had not established its territory. But now it feels that the tank is HIS/HERS.

My lavander gourami is a brat too.

He paicks on everyone else he can catch up with, especially at feeding time. But last week, my dwarfs fought back! He went and hid. No one has gotten seriously hurt, so i just let them have their ways. But I know how it is.
