Golden Algae Eater vs. Chinese Algae Eater

I was reading the mistake thread and was thinking...my golden algae eater looks very similar to a CAE. Is the golden just a different color variation? I currently have 2 in my 29g tank and every now and then they like to give chase to a random fish, noone specific though. They are getting to be a decent sized. Just trying to prevent bad things from happening here.

they are the same species, just different colour variations. i wouldent worry about them fighting with each other more than i would worry about them killing my fish.

Yes they are the same. My golden CAE is now almost 8' long. I've had him for almost 3 years. He's housed with large african cichlids. What they will do to fish, is suck on their slime coat. At first they will eat algae off the walls and the ornaments but as they grow they prefer the slime coat on your other fish.
