goldfish poop

can someone tell me what white stringy goldfish poop means

is it a bad diet
internal infection
or could it be stress . only had the fish 5 days

Could be all of the above. As long as it is not constantly like that.

Give them a couple days and see if it goes to normal, if not, I would treat for internal parasites.
How big is the tank? Did the tank go through the nitrogen cycle?

since i posted i took a sample of poop to the vet and they have said its not parasites or bacterial infection,it was the vets nurse that rang back.
and that it was too much fibre in the diet but i think they meant to say there wasnt enough fibre as i hadnt been feeding it anything but flakes or pellets.

so now im thinking my fish could be constipated as its belly is a littl e swollen too and when i give it peas and brocolli its poop is green and normal looking
today ive not fed my fish and tomorrow will give it some peas
could it be ive maybe overfed or its the actual flakes and pellets that i feed on alternate days thats the problem as they are quite high in prrotein.
also i soak the flakes or pellets prior to feeding the fish

How many goldfish do you have in there? I hope not more than one.
Since it's still cycling, you should be changing part of the water every day, or the fish will stay stressed.

i have only theone goldfish
i dont plan on getting anymore till i upgrade the tank to 125 litres in a few months time
also im doing about 50% water changes daily and adding prime
