I plan on raising and breeding blue and Bolivia rams but am worrying about my substrate choice of black Eco-complete. Is the consistency of Eco-complete good for rams or do I need to but flourish black sand? Or would either work just fine?

I am pretty sure either will work. You shouldn't have any problems and the black will make your fish look a lot better. Just an FYI from my experience with breeding blue rams, they tend to be horrible parents. I had a pair that had maybe 10 spawns, non of which made it very long in the wiggler stage. Not sure which parent was the one eating them, they were the only ones in the tank. I would see eggs, then the freshly hatched wigglers and then they were gone. Good Luck!

Thanks, yeah I know they eat the young but I have read that they normal only do this a few times. I'm hoping for some success.
