I know I mentioned my black mystery snail eggs somewhere here before, but geeze, these guys won't stop :p

I now have 5 nests of snail eggs just above the water line into the upper rim of my 29 gallon tank :p

Anyone want some?? :p I might have a huge batch soon if the gouramis don't eat them all ;P

Once they start it just keeps happening. I have lots of snails. I like them but there is such a thing as too much. When I do my tank cleaning every week I generally kill a few, maybe 10 or so and let the cory catfish eat them. A tasty treat and it slows down the huge snail population.

Maybe the fish store will want them? Either that or find a friend with some puffers or loaches.

I suspect the gouramis are gonna eat a lot of the babies. Else, into the goldfish tank they go :) Goldfish LOVE snails.

buy 3 small clown loaches.
They will take care of snails in a week. Gouramis will most likely not eat snails.
Clown loaches grow big, they will outgrow your 29g in less than a year but they are fun to watch.

I beg to differ :) I've watched gouramis eat snails before. I have no plans to touch clown loaches until my next tank purchase. They are on the list though.

*nods and agrees*

When I first got dwarf gouramis, I put them in my QT tank, which also held snails for my clown loaches. I realised when I removed the gouramis to their main tank, the snail population had decreased incredibly; no more baby snails and only a few of the large (pond) snails left. Looked it up; apparently they DO eat snails, although as they say, your mileage may vary.

Btw, shame you're so far from me. I could use a snail (ick..I hate em but...) for my betta tank.

I don't know how many will survive.. I've got a large number of gouramis, but I could always throw 10-20 baby snails in a bag of water and send it off ;p

*shivers*

Not sure I could handle a bunch of snails arriving in the mail LOL Snails gross me out. I do need something for the betta tank tho...20-30 snails might be a bit much tho ;)

Just hit a local petsmart.. They should have Black Mystery Snails, and Gold ones as well. $2. They take a lot of punishment to my knowledge too.

They do, one of my black ones climbed out of the tank on a regular basis and fell on the carpet, went a few feet and dried up, I'd throw it back in the next day and it would rehydrate and do it again.

They also leave a beautiful shimmering trail of slime on the carpet.

Heh, the thought of having to PAY for something I loathe just goes against my grain. You should see me mincing up the walk to the door here in the summer; there is some sort of slug infestation in the garden and I am DESPERATE not to go near any LOL

And you don't make it easier snap LOL :

Ewwwww!!!!!

LOL You guys are skeeving me out to no end!

I don't mind spiders, frogs are ok, lurve snakes and rats n mice are cute IMHO. But slugs n snails? Ugh. When I had the snail infestation, prior to getting my loaches, I made the hubby deal with em LOL he'd smoosh em for the angelfish (who found them delectible!). But I wouldn't touch em; even bought gloves to do my water changes to avoid touching one LOL

So you don't want to see the picture I have of three snails standing on top of each other, apparently mating? :)

Snail Porn???

Boy, you really CAN find anything on the internet ;)
