Zero. They both get very big.

**EDIT**

That was in response to the bala and the red tailed.

Nope, not them either.

How about a pair of GBR's? They would work great, and maybe a small school of small tetras with them like Rummynose Tetras.

For reference I have 2 balas in my 180 and they are both 7+ inches.

Maybe 2 guppys (both males) and 4-6 neons?

I don't really see a problem with 1 dwarf gourami in a 10g. Some dwarf cories could go in there too.

i'd say possibly 2, but it'd be cramped also

i'd return the 10 gal if you can and upgrade to at least a 20 Long

I definitely wouldn't get any more than 1 Dwarf Gourami for a 10 gallon. I have 2 in a 46 gallon and they have the ocassional altercation. Nothing major, but they definitely like having their own space. I don't think that 2 would be very happy in such a small tank. Personally, after having the pair that I have, I wouldn't put one in a 10 gallon. Just doesn't seem to be big enough.
