Hello,

We recently had a guppy die (We're not sure why, it could've been the water), and we got a new one. (We now have two of them.) When we put the new one in, the old one started chasing it almost non-stop. It is not currently eating when we feed them either, is this normal? We have had the fish in for around 3 days now, and it hasn't eaten at all.

Also, if anyone knows why the old one died that would be great to know. The morning it died it was sort of close to the floor, then later in the day we did a water change and we seen it fall backwards, start swimming completely vertically and falling down in the water while trying to swim to the top of the tank, then eventually it settled on the ground upside down then died a while after that. (We had a dying/dead plant in the tank which we removed when we seen him going vertical and its head seemed red if that makes a difference.) We also checked for red gills, the bottom of the fish may have been a little red but not sure about the gills.

Also, our other guppy seems to be very small/thin, even after we had it for 4+ months, is this normal?

Thanks,

You really need to test your water because this might be parasites or poor water conditions. The reason why your previous fish died sounds to be like swim blader issues most likely due to parasites. Why your fish is so skiny might also be due to the water conditions. Also, it isnt uncommon for 2 male guppies alone in a tank to nip or kill eachother unless there is other females around or you have a larger number of guppy. Could we have info on the tank size and some pictures :)
