My personal opinion is that they play an amoral role.

It's a corporation, which, if acting properly, is looking after one thing and one thing only: its shareholders. For good or bad, better or worse, this is how a properly functioning corporation SHOULD operate. It doesnt make them the though execs like Enron's will have a jolly time spending an eternity in .

I read a case in Business Organizations about Henry Ford spending profits to take better care of his employees. His Shareholders sued him and he lost b/c he was not looking out for profits.

I exercise my opinion though the free market system: patronizing local family owned LFS (ELMERS!!!!) over big chain stores. It's easy since I'm related to their accountant and get an extra 15% discount, and they have equal prices, same return policy, better service and comparable product.

In other contexts it may not be as easy to make the anti-establishment decisions and support local businesses, the product, prices, service, or policies are usually not as good becasue it can be tough to compete. SO I don't blame people for supporting these types of businesses, but I do fault them for it when they can get equal or better service/goods at a small store. C'mon! Support Mom and Pop!

I also noticed that Pet(insert smart, co, land, or some other word here) is COMPLETLEY useless and knowledgeless when it comes to helping me with my planted tank. Thank G-d for AA b/c I don't know what I'd do without it. I definitely woulndt have gone planted thats for sure. The lady had NO clue what I was talking about when I mentioned I wanted a substrate with a high CEC content, and looked insulted when I told her that they should at least ASK WHAT PEOPLE HAVE IN THEIR TANK before displaying signs that say:
Quote:
Petsmart suggests the use of Petsmart Aquarium Salt for conditioning your water.
ARRRGGGHHHH!!!

That sort of made me mad. I bet there are a lot of peeved off loaches b/c of that sign (though admittedly, I seem to kill all my clown loaches).
