good news to everyone!
I spoke to the manager at petco today and i told him about the whole thing.
he proposed to grab me the same type of heater but i refused because i don't want to go through this whole mess again so i asked if i could get the aqueon pro.
He then spoke with the other managers and they all agreed that i can just pay the difference like i bought the broken heater that i have for $37 when i only bought the whole kit with the heater for 60$.
I am so excited and will be going to Petco tomorrow to get my new heater!

normally i would just buy another heater or exchange it for the same thing =p
