Help!!!!!

Just recently I have noticed that my filters are getting sand in the carbon. I run 350's and the last two times I've replaced my carbon it has been chalked full of sand. I see the fine sand working around in the water. Anyone ever have this problem? Tank has been sanded for years and all of a sudden it's a problem. I have tried to clean everything out, turn down aeration to no luck. There's no aeration by my inlets either and they are at least half way up the tank. I don't get why all of a sudden this is a problem. Help!!!

Are your cichlids digging around throwing sand around in the water

Yeah they always have though! It's weird it's like there's to much filtration that it never settles. Or my canister just keeps bowing sand with it?
