Help !!!

I am haveing problems with my undergravel filter. I have a 45 gal tank given to me by a friend, so I am not sure what brand of filter I have. I notice particals and the water is cloudy. I tried to clean the tank last month and I lost two fish. I dont know what to do can someone help?[/b]

What are your water readings? How long has it been setup? Current stock? How often do you do water changes?

get rid of the undergravel filter and get yourself a good HOB filter.. preferibly an aquaclear.
