HELP do you know what this is

What is this stuff on the dial and sucker thing its on the dial and both the sucker things. It looks furry and white and feels slimy.

the photo hasnt shown, but sounds like some sort of mould if it is out of the tank, or white hair algae build up if it is in the water.

I think it's normal, I've had this and I've read of others having it too. Is your tank currently cycling? Just wipe it off, I think it's harmless.
