I am still new to the fish hobby here, and so i went and bought my girlfriend a 55 gallon tank aswell. Fishless cycled it and all is well. she bought a guarmi or however you spell it but i would like to know what else she can put with the little guy to fill the tank somewhat. seems like 55 gall is a waste for one fish. thank you ppl for you help on this matter.

Neon tetras, zebra danios, clown loach, cory cats, any fish in the "peaceful" or "community" category

Its spelled "gourami". What kind of gourami?

Gourami go well with other semi aggressive species, smaller fish are liable to be bullied, barbs, sharks, loaches and eels are recommended.
