I am looking for black rocks to form a mountain with cave. Rocks must be black or charcoal gray.

Can anyone suggest some different types of rocks I should consider?

I'm a big fan of the black lava rocks. Not only do they give you interesting textures to have moss grow over, they also double as additional space for beneficial bacteria to grow with all their porousness :)

Lava rocks. You can get all sorts of different sizes and shapes and should be relatively cheap at rock/landscape centers. (or free if you have lava fields nearby)

Are they the only black rocks?

Slate rock is another popular one people use. Beyond that I don't know any off the top of my head... Those are the two most common "black" rocks.
