Me too, I'm so sad I lost him! He was settling in so well. Would the nitrates being high have killed him?

It says "Immature fish are affected at much lower levels, as are saltwater fish." He was not very old so maybe this was the cause after all! And also why my other fish seem to be fine.

Yeah could be. It also says to remedy the situation slowly so as to not shock your fish. Guess you are in for a lot of little water changes over the next few! In addition to that your regular maintenance probably needs to be upped to keep them down in the future. Well, at least you know now!

Hopefully I can get everything right, keep up my maintenance and eventually add some more fish.

yep and if you need stocking help tons of people here have great advice. I'm not so good at it though. I only know the extremes
