MY honey sunset doesn't eat flake food...I heard they prefer algae.is this true

No. Try frozen bloodworms. Or frozen Brine Shrimp. Live is even better. But when we got in new fish, they'd eat frozen eagerly.

Make sure your water is perfect also. They are sensitive and need good water.

What other fish are in there ? What size tank ? Temperature ?

Agreed the baster is a good idea, I use it for shy and difficult to feed fish ,ie African dwarf frogs etc

Give your honey time to settle as said they are shy fish.

My honey was also the same, was hiding in the plants and not coming out to feed, after a couple of weeks it's always out and about and feeds with the rest of the tank.
