How did I get a damselfly larva in the middle of winter?

I just found this in my tank. It's as long as my biggest cherry shrimp!!

What I want to know is how could it possibly have gotten in? It's still deep winter here in Montreal and there's no way damselflies are out now - we had 40 cm of snow yesterday!

Could there have been eggs on the plants I added two months ago? If so, should I worry there's more of these things?

I'm from mtl too, and it's for sure not from this winter lol! Depending where the plant grew it is possible, but it could be from the wild as I read it could take up to half a year for eggs to hach.. It always amazes me how these buggers get into aquariums! Good luck :)
