So how long does everyone have their tank lights on for, and what time of day?

Mine come on at 12pm and off at 9pm.

Just wondering what the norm is?

8hrs all up, 3 in the morning and 5 at night. I've dropped it down an hour recently. Algae isn't much of a problem with b/n catfish and the plants grow ok (well faster then they get eaten) but I do have spots of beard (I think) algae that I've been treating with hydrogen peroxide.

Hi Fish Friends,

Most of my fish, need and love algae! So my tanks are on from around 16 hours per day to 24 hours per day. I have plecos in some of the tanks but my breeder tanks will not allow plecos.

I have 2 lights on a timer the dim light comes on 1 hour before the main light and the main light goes off 1 hour before the dim light

The lights are on a total of 6 hours

It's best to put the lights on a time it give the tank a routine

My 75 gallon planted runs it's lights from 10am-10pm. My GloTank runs a hidden LED strip on night mode 24/7 with an additional fluorescent actinic light going on the display tank from 10am to 10pm.

My white leds are 6am-9pm
My hood lamp is 3pm-8pm
Then Moon lights 8pm-6am

10 am to 8 pm on non work days and 11 am to 6 pm when working...love auto timers.
