I used plastic plants in my very first tank. I had grass like plants, and some tall background plants, until I upgraded to real plants. they are more pleasing to look at imo

I've always gone with live plants. I was thinking about a few plastic plants for color, but they would have to be silk. I'm hoping I'm on my to to learning how to keep the live ones live. Aponogetons and anubias have always bee easy for me, but you need 1000's of them for a 125 gallon tank and you still wont have the back glass covered.

The only fake plant I have in my tank is a plastic val that I put under the outake of my filter. There would be a gap there otherwise and all of my other plants would be smothered by the flow.
