How often/Much to feed my fish

I have a 20 gallon tank with 4 x-ray tetras (Pristella tetras) and 6 neon's. I'm only feeding once a day to prevent ammonia spike in relatively new tank. I let them feed for a few minutes. I am starting to notice a little aggression and frantic feeding at feeding time.

Any help would be appreciated

I have 7 of those guys in a 20 gallon. I find them very active so I feed them twice. Usually by the second feeding they are more frantic than the first feeding.

How much do you feed them at each feeding

Usually a pinch of flakes that i crumble (the flakes are bigger than their mouths). Sometimes i'll feed daphnia or bloodworms instead for one of the feedings they love it.
