I feed all my plecs a hour or two after lights out, this way the other fish have wound down for the night allowing the plecs to scavenge for food without competition.
I always wonder how my pleco gets enough to eat too. I have driftwood in there (do they eat this or just use it to chew on or what?). He never comes out to eat and when I drop my shrimp pellets and algae discs the other fish usually eat it before he even comes out.
I know some breeds will actually eat the driftwood, others just chew on it for protein and it helps with degestion. I dont have to worry about this anymore this pleco must have gotten stressed out and now hes dead..
