I just setup a Fluval 206 for my 36G to replace a HOB Penguine 200 biowheel and I know I need to run the cansiter along with the HOB to build up BB for about 3 weeks.

How will I know the canister has BB in it?

Can I break down the Penguine filter and place the "fuzzy" part I assume has the BB on it and set it in the canister and forgo running both?

all i did when i upgraded was float my bio wheel and it worked well for me left it there about 2 weeks no problem and i went from a 29 gal to a 75 gal
