Hmmm it looks like stiphodon family... Its definitely not semoni since its not cobalt blue...

Females are brownish/goldenish I believe but I'm really not familiar with stiphodons. But you're right, with 30+ types of stiphodons it will be tough to identify without better pics.

I doubt this is it but your fish looks a lot like stiphodon alcedo.

Body yes, colour no. Sadly. What if its an unidentified species?? Hahahahaha it could be. It was a 'bycatch' in a shipment oh Siamese algae eaters if that is of any leads...
