my tank is a stable 86degrees F (30degrees celcius)

I have angelfish, pearl gourami, corydoras.

IMHO yes. Few fish live in those temps. Discus do well at those temps. I usually do 78f for community tanks.

BUT if you decide to reduce temperature, do it VERY gradually.

The warmer the water, the less oxygen it holds AFAIK.

I would keep it lower. In the event of certain illnesses you would want to increase the heat which would be hard to do when you are already starting out so high.

I agree with previous posts. You should prob keep the temp lower to allow for more oxygen and just in case you have to treat am illness and you have to turn the temp even higher.

I don't know if you are scared for your Pearl Gourami in particular since you have it marked in Red but I have one and I usually keep the temperature around 80 degrees.

He is now in a water that is around 84-86 degrees (treating Ich) and is doing fine but in any case, I would really lower the temperature of your tank to 80 degrees (82 degrees if you would feel more comfortable).
