heres the story - i got her a week or so ago,the lady at the store said she might be PG but not sure! stuck her in with the other fish. i have a male black molly who wouldnt leave her alone, kept nipping at her and flarring his fins - guessing he was trying to mate. so i put her in another tank. wondering if shes PG? or just big? cant really see a gravid spot. please help.

also if shes not pg should i stick her back in with the black molly? is that how they mate?? never had a Pregant fish before thanks

Yes that is how they mate. The male will circle the female raising his dorsal fin (really a sight to see with a sailfin) sniff at her rear end and he will eventually mount her from the side breifly. One male molly will be happy with 2 or 3 females. If you only have one female he will never leave her alone.
She looks like she might be PG, hard to tell as the females can get quite large in the belly without being PG. You will know for sure when you see fry hiding wherever they can. Some moms will hide in plants or near the back of the tank a few days before giving birth.
My Mollies and Plattys seem to be having babies all the time.
