its red, its hairy, its...

so yeah, I came home from school today to find red hair algae... some is short, some is longer... it looks just like hair algae but its this color... any ideas? I'm terribly worried about it, but its weird that it popped in over night... I'll try to get a photo

Is it slimy and like a "mat"? With very very fine slimy strands floating? Might be cyano if it is.

not mat like at all... more like the mostly green, slightly grey hair algae i've been battling for a while... looks just like hair algae. but its red. its almost as if the green hair algae turned red over night.
