I got a chunk of java moss a few weeks ago about the size of a baseball. I put it in my 10 gallon tank, with 2 14 watt CFL bulbs, 5000k. I've been adding FloraPride once a week. The moss started to turn brown about a week ago. I moved it into my 20 gallon tank, which has a 17 watt bulb, 8000k.

I don't think it is brown algae because I've rinsed it off pretty well. Any other suggestions? Is it dead for good, or can it still grow?

I think it needs co2... It is probably Just starved. I think it will grow back.
